| Details: | This program introduces the fundamental moves for skaters 6-12 years of age with little to no skating experience. Skills taught in this level include forward one foot glides- R and L, backward two-foot glide, backward sqizzles- 6-8 in a row, two-foot turn from forward to backward in place, moving snowplow stop, forward alternating half swizzle pumps, in a straight line (slalom-like pattern). Fees for this class include skate rental. * No class May 11! Skaters enrolled in this class are required to register for a Learn to Skate USA membership. Please visit learntoskateusa.com to register. Your confirmation email must be emailed to the Director of Figure Skating at atousignant@kvpd.com before your first day of class. ** Please note there are NO CLASSES on May 13 and May 27. The last day of this class will be Saturday, June 10. Dress your skater for warmth! We recommend long pants (no jeans or heavy snow pants!), long sleeved shirt or sweatshirt, a lightweight jacket, mittens or gloves, a hat and long socks (a must for those renting skates!). Beginner skaters will be spending their first couple of classes kneeling, crawling and sitting on the ice, so cover any exposed bare skin. Helmets are recommended for our beginner skaters. No bike helmets, please! |
